" 1924, it's been a long time when the first amphibious of Gabriel Voisin (1880-1973), son of the airplane and the seaplane flew over the river Seine. It was on the 3rd of August 1911. Do we remember it ?... Time passes so quickly ! It does not know speed limit.

Today, the amphibious is going to fly around the world.

Four Douglas aircrafts (World Cruiser) equiped for either terrestrial landind, or water landing take off from Santa Monica, California on the 17th of March 1924, towards Japan.

5 months and 15 days later, on the 9th of September, coming from the East, three of the four Douglas land on the sea at Port Washington, after having flown over Japan, Indo-China, India, Asia, Southern Europe, France, England and Ireland.

The fourth one crashed on the way, fortunately without any victim.

The crews who travelled along near 50 000 kilometers were al military officers."

Extract from - HISTOIRE DE L'AVIATION - René Chambe (1889 - 1983) / Copyright Flammarion Publishing1963.

Some legs/airfields are located near rivers, lakes, coastal bays or harbours ; the water landing is, therefore possible.

Denis Simanaitis has developped for FS9 (2004), the Douglas World Cruiser, available freely at the following adress : Simviation / Vintage / Page 21.

As far as I am concerned, I used two amphibious by Eugene Heyart, the "Albatross" (file SJ_Alb_2.zip), available at FS Dome, uploaded on the 30th October 2006 ; and the Otter NG (file OtterNG2;zip), available on this site : Downloads / FS 2004 / Aircrafts / Seaplanes.

GPS recommended, especially for water landings on the seabases water runways
